WIA 200i AC/DC welder.

materianew 3mm Aluminum (brushed and cleaned).

No.6 cup and gas lens.

2% Lanthanated Tungsten 2.4mm.

Pre-flow 1sec. After-flow 2.9 sec.

foot pedal amps at full 200 amps 2T mode.

AC Balance 33 % (tungsten with a slightest ball)

150 hz AC ...have to scratch the tungsten sometimes just to get it going (that's in HF).

Then tried with 64 hz and worked ok.

My question is...Can I use the 150 hz for starting in general...or should I just reduce my setting to 64 hz

when pulse welding or do I need to sent the welder back to adjust the HF ?]]>

Nothing seems to clean up the welds. its a brand new machine and the welds are ok.

E3 Tungsten https://gogo.bugo.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/e3-tungsten https://gogo.bugo.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/e3-tungsten I find that 2% Thoriated works real well for me and tolerates the occasional touch into the weld pool. But the E3 hates all of it.
I have yet to find 2% Lanthenated locally. To order it up from the states is very expensive.
But before I hunt any further I`m hoping that someone has used Lanthenated on scratch or lift start and can give me there opinion on it. Thanks.]]>

I tried it and it did work. He recomended to use a 1/8 inch tungsten Lanthenated.
I dont know why but I bought one earlier this year.
I tried it on thin aluminum first as recomended. then I pushed it with a 1/2 inch thick piece.
What I did with the 1/2 inch piece was fill in 2 holes that i drilled in the wrong spot.
The tip did send out an arclike lightning but settled down after it balled.]]>

My Automotive problem is a single hole of deeper proportion, on the Left-hand steering Knuckle of my FORD. (see attached image samples) This unit is a complicated device with connections for the tie-rod, ball-joint, strut, and wheel bearings right in the center; my problem lies with the two connection points for the brake caliper. These look like two mouse ears with a hole in center. One of mine is factory-threaded, the other is TOTALLY STRIPPED of all threads, so that pin cannot support the caliper there.

Replacement knuckles may be available at a price, but I wonder if the stripped hole can be refilled with steel, then drilled, and finally Tapped with the exact threading necessary to restore the unit.

A copper backing-plate could be attached to one side, before fill procedure. The problem is the depth of the hole is approx. 1/2 inch. Is it possible to fill this hole?

Advise please!
